Profile
A demanding business environment encouraged the development of suitable study programs, which are carried out at the Business Department.
Today there are two first-level programs and two second-level programs at the Business Department. After completing the undergraduate professional study programs of Information Science and Entrepreneurship, students are trained to begin their professional career.
After finishing these two undergraduate professional study programs and gaining 180 ECTS credits, students obtain one of the following professional titles:
- Professional Bachelor of Economics
- Professional Bachelor of Information Science
Students who obtained one of the above mentioned professional titles at the Polytechnic of Rijeka or at some other institution of higher education, can enroll into a suitable higher level study program. At the end of the program and by obtaining 300 ECTS credits (180 + 120 ECTS credits) students obtain one of the following professional titles:
- Professional Specialist of Entrepreneurship
- Professional Specialist of Information Science and Technology in Business Systems
All study programs of the Business Department have been carried out as full-time and part-time in Rijeka since the academic year 2007/2008. The undergraduate professional study program of Entrepreneurship is carried out for full-time and part-time students in Pazin as well.

The undergraduate professional study program of Information Science aims at training experts to master complex technical tasks of designing, programming, implementing and maintaining information systems and data bases, introducing and using information systems and networks. By fulfilling the requirements of the undergraduate professional study program at the Business Department, students obtain 180 ECTS credits.

The undergraduate professional study program of Entrepreneurship aims at training experts to act as entrepreneurs and gain knowledge and skills in doing business as entrepreneurs. The specific objective is to enable students to analyse business opportunities and other subjects in a dynamic environment.

The specialist graduate professional study program of Information Science and Technology in Business Systems aims at training professionals to master complex tasks in the area of applied information science. The Specialist Graduate Professional Study Program of Information Science and Technology in Business Systems has two tracks and these are:
- Software Engineering for Enterprises
- Business Information Systems
